Not quite, to actually run on Linux you need to implement a replacement for DirectShow which is currently used to talk to the DVB cards.

Perhaps this would be a nice enhancement for someone to work on once the source code is fully open-sourced (which will happen once the codebase is stable again, hence the need for Alpha testing).

Are people interested in trying out an ALPHA version of ARGUS TV that has simply been brought up to date in some technical ways, to verify I didn't break anything in doing so?

What I'd like to do it bring ARGUS TV to .NET Core, and thereby moving it closer to Linux compatibility. So this is the first step in this process.

There's also an ALPHA implementation of HTTP Live Streaming in this build, but this is still work in progress.
Yes please! Where do we find that?

Welcome back! Good to see you again.

Just remember to keep the software up to date which is running on the webserver in order to keep the malware out. Until you came back I was completely unable to use this website.

My antimalware software was complaining until you got it fixed - now I can start using Argus TV again!!

Just a query will the SDJson service be included in the Guide Importer software please (as standard)?

-----------------------

The Linux kernel has a television reception technology already present in it only not every tuner card is supported. Though however many are already supported in a wide variety of protocols (DVB-T, DVB-T2, DVB-C, DVB-S, DVB-S2 etc). Its reception technology is known as v4l-dvb and the website is available at this address (https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page).

So if Argus TV were to use the v4l-dvb software under Linux then it would pretty easily have several tuner cards already supported. The reason why I know about this is because I have been looking into Linux both for personal use and/or for work.

I will upload the ALPHA to the BETA section of the forum (yeah, I know that sounds weird :D), hopefully next week.

No, I didnt know that I need to make a donation to get access to the beta before it will be contributed as open source anyway.

Access to beta releases has been a perk for donors for a long time.
