Hi,
I'm looking at other MC options rather than MC7, and headed down the road of KODI, with Argus as the back end.
I'm struggling with tuning the cards in Argus. I can see them, and have forced them into antenna mode.
When scanning though I do not appear to have a region relating to Australia.
Any assistance appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have frequency details from your provider?
If somyou could add these to the cables.xml file and start scanning.
Hope this helps

Re: Unable to select Australia as a region when scanning
The best method for scanning here is to create your own Terrestrial.xml file to scan the exact frequencies in your area.
You can get your frequencies from here: http://ozdigitaltv.com/
Here is an example of the file structure using the main frequencies in Sydney. Note the offset for the Nine network (191625000) has already been added. This is because Argus scans the wrong amount of offset, so you uncheck the option to scan for offsets.

Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!-- useable flags are
1: Network Scan
2: use BAT
4: use ONIT
8: skip NITs of known networks
and combinations of this.

<!-- transponder parameters:

constellation: 0 = QPSK, 1 = 16-QAM (default), 2 = 64-QAM, 3 = Auto
code_rate_{lp,hp}: 0 = 1/2, 1 = 2/3, 2 = 3/4, 3 = 5/6, 4 = 7/8, 5 = Auto (default), 6 = None
guard_interval: 0 = 1/32, 1 = 1/16, 2 = 1/8, 3 = 1/4, 4 = Auto (default)

Sorry for providing wrong info

No, you were right - just slightly different here because terrestrial is the only thing you can use Argus for because our cable & satellite need dedicated set top boxes.rudig wrote:Sorry for providing wrong info

Re: Unable to select Australia as a region when scanning
Hi,
Thanks for the advice. I was hoping it would be a bit easier to set up - OzdigitalTV looks like it only has the main channels for some reason, like 70 is on there, but not 71,72,73,74 etc.
After using the windows MC Tv - "Press the scan button" this looks a lot more complex.
Is there any easier way than almost "writing code" to scan?
Thank you,

Unfortunately Argus is like Lego Designer compared to WMC Duplo.
The benefits are great, but it is fiddly to setup.
What area are you in? I'll make you an XML.
You don't scan for individual channels in digital TV. Channels are grouped in a multiplex (known as a MUX). Here (in Aus), each network has their own MUX, so when you scan ch 7 digital (actually on the physical frequency of channel 6 in the capital cities), you get 7, 70, 71, 72, 73, etc in one go.
Another thing to remember for channel 7, the 70 & 71 channels don't really exist. They're essentially bookmarks back to 7. When people complain "why don't they put xyz on 71?" it's because it doesn't really exist.
