EPG colouring (sugg. for easier approach)

Post by Christoph21x » Sat Aug 09, 2014 11:02 am

Hi All

It has been quite often requested to support EPG colouring depending on categories. This is not too easy to be made - and must be very flexible and to be maintained by the user, as categories quite frequently change and seem to come sometimes "out of the mind of a writer" (of a tv magazine) - including misspelling of words.

Nevertheless, such a feature would be great.
In Argus we have "Suggestion Plans" (SP) - which highlight specific EPG entries according to sugg. schedules. Those Suggestion Schedules can easily be bound to a set of categories, are simple to configure and beyond that - far more flexible than just following categories. (Like SP for actors, directors, parts of a name, ...)

If we could extend the SP functionality with the following attributes:
  • Background colour
  • Border colour & thickness
  • Font colour (and maybe even font typology/selection for the brave :) )
  • Allow individual icons (best: only png file w/ or /wo transparency) (today: automatically

... and reflect this within EPG, that would be a far less complicated step towards an extremely flexible view of the EPG.
And: far easier to realize. Let's give suggestion plans a different name like "Suggestion Highlighting" - fair enough.
BUT: for what concerns the WebInterface - this is not so easy to incorporate.

Why would you want suggestions in epg?
I'd like to have them listed in an overview or even have them sent by email or rss.
I don't like the fact that I need to search them in the epg

You already now have them (also) in EPG, so you have both already now.
It's just a very easy way to achieve this by extending, and not having another new config list.
