Channel starting sometimes fails with "no buffer file"
Re: Channel starting sometimes fails with "no buffer file"
Hi Red,
So far it's much improved - no timeouts, channels change, in general it works slightly faster than the first buffer branch test.
Here's my debug log: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=25920
You'll see many multifilereader and zero buffer length errors - hopefully of some help. The channel does start, it just takes a while, as was the case with WileCoyote. So it's improved, but it looks like the root cause may still be there? Let me know if I can help.
PS. OpenElec is finicky about addons - I had to increment the version number in addons.xml to get the new one to install.

Re: Channel starting sometimes fails with "no buffer file"
I was thinking about this early this morning (yes, what a boring life I have ), I wonder if the start times will improve with Margro & FernetMenta's updates or is it really an issue with the Argus addon? Either way, this version works well and I am very happy with the update.
@planetix, when I am trying test versions on OpenElec, I always backup & uninstall the Argus-TV addon and then copy the new one to the default System/Addon share. That saves me from having to jockey the version numbers... (just a thought.)

Nice Log, but could you make one with debugging info too?

The log in the post now is the debug log - I initially put in one that wasn't but I edited it. If you got an email notification or something you might have seen the first one?

Yours is fine, but I meant the one from wileecoyote.planetix wrote:The log in the post now is the debug log - I initially put in one that wasn't but I edited it. If you got an email notification or something you might have seen the first one?
I actually noticed one serious error spitting me in the eye, in the code I inserted
I'm celebrating my birthday today but will try to push a change tomorrow.

Re: Channel starting sometimes fails with "no buffer file"
Okay, here is round 2...
Log: http://www.dotnetdevelopers.net/XBMC/logs/fredtest2.zip
I did get one failure this time. I started Live TV on a cable channel (Colossus H264), stopped Live TV then tuned to an off air channel (HD HomeRun Mpeg2) and I got a No Buffer message. The neat thing was, the message quickly went away and it tuned on the second attempt with no issues.
Thanks again!

Okay, I pushed a small but important change to argus_buffer2. I think you all really want to have that in your addon when using this version
Sigh, must be the first symptoms of aging....

Re: Channel starting sometimes fails with "no buffer file"
Well that explains where all the zero length error messages were coming from
I'll give it a try in a bit - I don't have a Linux machine handy to build XBMC addons on, only Visual Studio. I'll set up a VM or something.
