Possible to watch an active recording?

XBMC displays popups when a recording starts or ends, so the pvr addon is already being notified of a new recording happening if I'm not mistaken? Why not call the trigger update function in that case?

Yes you are right. But that notification is done by XBMC, not the add-on. Therefore XBMC should trigger the update internally.
