I'll ask again in case the question was missed.

Are you using the drivers from the PCTV website, they specifically state they are for software other than theirs. In many cases default drivers from Microsoft don't cut it.

Could help explain why the included software worked, and Argus didn't.
You can fix it, or you can fix it until it's broken. I usually choose the latter.

Server: WHS 2011. Hauppauge HVR 2200. Avermedia A835. ArgusTV Server. EPG Collector.
Clients: Win7 64bit. MediaPortal. ArgusTV Client. StreamedMP.

Sorry, I didn't answer earlyer:

Yes, I do use their drivers. Was my first action, after I discovered the bad recording: get me the newest drivers.

Just looked into my machine, it says, the driver-provider are from PCTV Systems.

Kepp us posted about your dissynced sound issue, Aretin.
Unfortunately I also made bad experiences with PCTV USB devices a couple of years back - they're cheap but.. seem to have not the best performance (but I really can't judge it)

Good morning,

I must sadly report, that my problems still occurs, BUT, I can nail it down to the USB-Bus (I think).

I recently bought me a new Haupauge Nova-USB-device and got nearly exact the same problems with the shiftet sound. Every 2-3 minutes, I get a glitch and miss a second of sound and the picture makes a freeze/jump.

So, I would say, my original problem with the PCTV DVB-S2 Stick is solved, yet I face another, bigger problem, as the new PC got exactly one PCIe-Slot open and I'm verry clueless, how to solve the USB-Hub-Issue.

If anyone has an good idea, I would be greatfull (and no, it is not the systemload, I monitored it over a whole houre of recording. I got peaks, but never exceeded the 80% mark).

Best regards
Jens

please disable for Energy Saving for USB

1.In Windows, click on Start > Control Panel (or Start > Settings > Control Panel).
2.Double-click on System, then open the Hardware tab.
3.Click Device Manager.
4.Click the + at Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
5.Right-click USB Root Hub and select Properties.
6.Open the Power Management tab.
7.Clear the checkmark from Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
8.Click OK.
9.Repeat this procedure for the USB 2.0 Hub.

Hello Kai Diefenthal,

they were allready disabled. Just checked it for every HUB once again: no checked checkbox to save power at all...

next try

1) Going into your power plan.

2) Click on "change plan settings", then click on "change advanced power settings"

3) Open up "USB settings", and open "USB selective suspend setting", and disable.

Yep, allready did that, too.

Mayby, I should list the things, I allready tried?

- disable powersaving
- get the newest drivers
- benchmarked the whole system
- tried different usb-ports
- searched the Win-Log for errors
- disabled firewall and antivirus
- tried both Argus and MediaPortal to record (both got the same issue and yes, I did take another installation)
- Re-Installed both former mentioned programs

Hi Aretin,

I'm sorry to hear, that you're still struggling...
Are you using othe USB devices in parallel?
e.g. a HDD attached to a USB port to which you record?
or a USB WLAN card that your recording is streamed?
All USB ports per USB controller have a COMMON maximum throughput rate...

Hello Christoph21x,

I only use a shared USB-Reciever for my Mouse/Keyboard from Logitech. The extra Hardrive is connected via eSATA and turned off while recording (just my place to save recorded and cut recordings). So, theoretically, the whole-USB-Controller should be free.

The WLAN is connected via its own PCIe-Slot and disabled in the hardware-section of windows (as I prefer LAN over WLAN).

My last clue could be, that either the BIOS has some funky settings, I did not find yet, or, that the USB-Controller itself might be defective...
