Hopefully when Dot-i can sort out the licensing issues and releases the source for recorder we'll be able to actually see how it works, unless he tells us first :D

Can someone try setting the timeshift size to 8GB per file created and see what happens? It might be a Mediaportal thing but it falls apart!

I assumed the use of multiple file (e.g the default 4x750MB) was to make it easier to discard & rewrite the oldest as time moves on.

Soon as I set them to 1GB it worked fine, must be an issue with writing such a large file...

Just to follow up. (This is part knowledge and part speculation)
It appears there is a maximum file size of around 2GB due to the value being stored as a 32bit integer.
The minimum of 2 files looks to be a result of the MediaPortal plugin requirements (past or present).
You can fix it, or you can fix it until it's broken. I usually choose the latter.

Server: WHS 2011. Hauppauge HVR 2200. Avermedia A835. ArgusTV Server. EPG Collector.
Clients: Win7 64bit. MediaPortal. ArgusTV Client. StreamedMP.
