Recom: I can recommend to install latest nightly of 2012-12-15; it is (at least on my system) trmendously faster than RC1 (plus LCN chan switching) and it seems to resolve the "quit during PVR startup" issue.
As I said: at least here....

Yes, I tried XBMC this weekend on my S3 for the very first time. I had to force close it within ten seconds. So I guess I'll just wait a little longer.

I have to say thanks for the LCN numbers being used on the plugin now.
Makes it alot easier when my wife is using the system.

One things I did notice is that there is an automatic option to have genre colours on the EPG. I was wondering if there was anything that I can do to enable this from within XBMC or in the Argus TV system?
As that would be amazing.

Hi!

I'm reading an interesting thread at xbms forum regarding subtitles for TV - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=142333

As I understands it, the only way to get subtitles right now is from teletext(?) In my case I have to press "V" and then the correct pagenumber and then sync text and sound with + or -. This makes it very complicated, specially when timeshidting is starting to work
Is the idea that it should work as in MediaPortal in the end, meaning teletext is "converted" in to easy of use subtitles?

Does this affect Argus PVR add on development or Argus TV server?

Teletext info is embedded in the MPEG-TS datastream. The datastream is processed by XBMC, the addon just passes it to XBMC.

As ususal, when it has to do with the XBMC UI / screens / controls, the addon has nothing to do with it.

I do not understand what you mean by "the only way to get subtitles right now is from teletext(?)"...

Usually subtitles are part of the TV transmission, for the hearing impaired there sometimes are special teletext pages with live sub-titles. What other ways of getting subtitles are you expecting?

Sorry for not making my self clear What I'm trying to say is that MP and XBMC is not the same here regarding using subtitles/teletext
Using subtitles/teletext in MP is very easy, just press "L" as when watching a DVD or TV. When using xbmc its the same when playing a DVD but not TV (AFAIK), then I have to do as described above.

I think that's what been discussed in that thread and I was just wondering if it did affect Argus in any way But I guess now that its not...

For me DVB subtitles have always worked just fine in XBMC, being nicely decoded and shown on screen straight from the TS stream that was streamed or recorded by ARGUS.

I did ask this question a long time ago. Apparently it's to do with the genre settings for the epg data, but if you're in the UK they're all a bit of a mess, with thousands of genres, so it just doesn't work properly. Maybe that's changed now, I haven't had chance to look into it properly, but from memory it just wouldn't have worked.
