Argus TV plugin and OSMC

Post by kimtiede » Tue Feb 10, 2015 10:39 am

Hi all,

I have a Raspberry pi 2 and have installed OSMC Alpha 4 on it + the Argus TV plugin.

The EPG is shown fine but when switching to a channel its says "Please wait" for about 30 secs before returning to the EPG UI. The channel is never shown.

On the server side it starts a live stream but its is somehow never activated on the mediacenter.

Any good fault finding tips?

Cheers

Kim

What version of Argus TV server is running?

What tuner(s) are you using?

Do you have a client on the same machine as the server and is it working?

Is this the first client device you have set up for Argus TV?

Can you play recorded shows?

Check to make sure both you storage location for buffering live TV and your recorded TV folders are set to share with guest access.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I am running the latest version of Argus TV on a stand alone server.

I have mediaportal on another Windows machine and it works fine.

I used to have a raspberry pi 1 with raspbmc on it and it worked fine to. So I think it has something to do with either the version 2 of the raspberry pi or the osmc software.

Hi all,

I'm experiencing the same issue with my Raspberry Pi 2 running OpenELEC 5.0.3. I have two other Raspberry Pi's (not RPi 2) running OpenELEC with no issues. And a Windows machine with Kodi using Argus with no issues.

On the RPi2, the EPG data is fine, but when switching to a channel, the 'Working' spinner appears, but the channel never loads.

When attempting to play a recording, nothing happens at all.

I've got the same issue with Openelec 5.0.3 on a Pi2. You can playback recordings via videos if you set the source up but not through the ArgusTV plugin itself.

Try adding passwords.xml in your KODI user data folder. A quick search will show you what you need to do.

Thanks, I've already done this through the settings via the GUI. I had it setup on the old Pi without problems.

Hi everyone, I've been struggling with this issue for a while now. I only just got it going 10 minutes ago, so I thought I'd share my method here for others. I hope it helps.

So I have a Windows PC with two Sony PlayTV tuners running Argus 2.3. I have a user account (called kodi) with a password set for use with the TV & timeshift network shares on the Windows PC.

I am trying to access Argus via a Raspberry Pi 2 running OSMC (2016.01). It is able to connect to Argus, download the channels, guide, etc. Everything works to the point of trying to switch to a channel, where it says Working for ages & then goes back to the guide without playing the channel.

The solution I found was, in the Argus TV Recorder Console, under Settings, I was using (for example) \\Windows-PC\TV as the Recordings path & \\Windows-PC\Timeshift as the Timeshifting path.

Once I changed these to (for example) \\192.168.0.1\TV and \\192.168.0.1\Timeshift, I could switch to channels on OSMC instantaneously.

It would appear that in my situation, it couldn't resolve the "Windows-PC" to an IP & OSMC didn't like that. After trying absolutely everything else, I couldn't believe it could be so simple.

Anyway, hope that helps! I'm going to get some dinner & enjoy some free to air TV :D

Oh, I also added the TV share as a Source in the file manager, so Kodi could know the username & password for accessing the Windows PC. That's probably important too.
