BBC Red button

Post by jock23 » Tue Jun 24, 2014 7:18 am

Can anyone help me in finding and setting up the bbc red button services using a freesat dvb-s2 tbs card?

I presume it's not actually possible to use it as an actual feature but normally there is a channel separate for it? I can see what I think is it on the channel list after scanning but when I try and use it XBMC gives me an error message. Is there something I am missing?

I have "BBC RB 301" in my scan on Freeview but it has never worked the few times I tried. It may just have to do with the timing. As you say, in theory, the stream should work albeit without the interactive options- I remember years ago "switching to the red button" by going to channel 301/2 because the tuner I was using didn't officially support the function. Equivalent on Freesat is 980/1.

Did you ever resolve this?

I just checked here and managed to play it via XBMC 14.0 until I realised the channel was linked also to my DVB-T tuner so I unlinked them and now get an error "No free tuner found" when forcing the DVB-S version.

Strangely, going to the Argus Recorder Console and manually recording the stream works fine...

BTW, Fishsticks, I've never had an issue with RB301 with any recording software on DVB-T.
