Why is building a new one better than contributing to one of the 10+ other PVR systems that already exist? At the point you build a new product just to honour the Argus name, you have to ask why you're bothering.

I still need to come across the windows based dvb-c recorder that is able to do advanced scheduling like argus can.

I like Argus. It works with my old AVerTV Hybrid Volar MAX OTA tuner. I can run the scheduler and file maintenance from any Win 10 install. It works reasonably well with Kodi on Win 10.

What Argus really needs is an Apple/Android client. That doesn't seem to be coming soon.

If Argus breaks, Tablo has a nice 2-tuner OTA DVR, but that's $300 bucks I'd rather keep.

OK my Argus build has just died - time to put it out to pasture.

All has been good while it lasted for several years but the scheduler service now failing to start means it's now time to rip it out and put something else in.

Any suggestions for the backend? I've been using Argus with a Blackgold 3620 DVB-S2/T2 card and Kodi as a front end for live TV, what do people use nowadays?

So long Argus and thanks for all the fish

I'd love to see Argus-TV continue development. It's a strong system! Please let us hear a determination on its viability!

I've heard NextPVR is a good solution too. Thoughts?

Unfortunately, having spent the last few days with NextPVR, the buffering during live TV is intolerable.

Come back Argus, all is forgiven!

I would also very much like to continue using Argus, but as long as it looks like it is dead I have installed DVBLogic.
I must say that I am very pleased with it so far. The disadvantage is that it costs 49 Euro but so far I think that I will pay that when the evaluation expires.

It was very easy to install and you can watch TV on several platforms, Windows, Linux, Webbrowser, Android and IOS.
The scheduling part is not in any way as good as Argus but there is a third party addon that looks promissing.

Is the only issue with Argus and Kodi v18 the plugin? It looks like there's some active development for a v18 plugin going on here: https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.argustv. If this is what it looks like and there's a working plugin again then is anything else preventing people from using Argus.

No, it's the fact that the developer has been mostly MIA for a year and a half :(
