How to clean up old channel and services data
How to clean up old channel and services data
I upgraded to ARGUS TV by first de-installing ForTheRecord. During de-install I stated to remove all services and channels scan data. But I think not everything has been removed correctly because after a scan I got double name of my services and there are also some old channel services links I cannot get deleted.
My question is: What should I delete that all scan data, channel and services data are deleted so I can start with a fresh scan of my DVB-C card?

Re: How to clean up old channel and services data
I *think* if you go to %AllUsersProfile%\ARGUS TV\ and remove "ArgusTV.Recorder.sdf" it will remove all settings and services in the Recorder console.
You can fix it, or you can fix it until it's broken. I usually choose the latter.

%AllUsersProfile% = "Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\" for Win XP, and "ProgramData\" for most other Windows versions.

Re: How to clean up old channel and services data
That seems not a good idea. I get the message "unexpected error occurred" when I go into CARD menu.. And no DVB-C card is shown.
Re: How to clean up old channel and services data
I did a full de-install and deleted even the ARGUS data directory of what has been left over in the Programdata folder... Thereafter a re-install and the old channels list shows up in the recorder console without even having performed a channel scan on DVB-C card.
Re: How to clean up old channel and services data
I should have said you'll have to reinstall. Sorry.
It might be pulling that data from the old 4TR directories. This installer checks to see if the files exist and copies them if they do. Try deleting all traces of the 4TR install and have another go.

Re: How to clean up old channel and services data
What data is stored in the SQL database. Might that be a problem?
Re: How to clean up old channel and services data
The main (Scheduler) database basically contains anything that can be accessed through the Scheduler Console: schedules, channels (not services), guide data etc. This database is kept on uninstall.RogerS wrote:What data is stored in the SQL database. Might that be a problem?
But you're talking about Services. Services are saved in the Recorder database ("ArgusTV.Recorder.sdf").
ARGUS TV + Recorder, 4 x FloppyDTV DVB-C, Smargo Smartreader Plus, MDAPI Plus, ACamd, OSCam, Win7 x64.
Re: How to clean up old channel and services data
And how can I clean up the database without removing SQLExpress...
Re: How to clean up old channel and services data
The recorder database is a compact database and can be deleted normally.
As for the scheduler database. Here is a wiki article I have conveniently created
http://www.argus-tv.com/wiki/index.php? ... o_ARGUS_TV
Please let me know how it goes and if it needs tweaking.
