Upgrade from ARGUS 2.0.0 to 2.0.1
Upgrade from ARGUS 2.0.0 to 2.0.1
Is there a short upgrade possibility from ARGUS 2.0.0. to 2.0.1?
I couldn't find anything in the included manual of 2.0.1.

Re: Upgrade from ARGUS 2.0.0 to 2.0.1
What do you mean by short upgrade possibility? All I did was install over the top by following the prompts to uninstall 2.0.0 but keep the existing database. It then installs the latest version and you're good to go, all schedules are maintained.
Re: Upgrade from ARGUS 2.0.0 to 2.0.1
Is this also true for defined network recording shares?
Re: Upgrade from ARGUS 2.0.0 to 2.0.1
So far it has kept everything intact. I've got a media pc in a different room running MP and Argus as a client and it accesses the main network shares fine after the upgrade. The upgrade keeps all your settings intact should you click 'no' when asked if you want to delete the databases etc. at the end of the previous version uninstall.
Re: Upgrade from ARGUS 2.0.0 to 2.0.1
Sorry to be so picky but imho this is still not a seamless upgrade like for instance an upgrade of OpenElec or XBMC... Yes my channels and recordings database will not be deleted but still several things needs to be reconfigured again which imho might not be necesarry as the settings of the old installation could be re-used. Like:
Please keep in mind: I do like ARGUS TV of it's stability, once it is configured correctly, and feature richness of the recording capabilities. But imho to gain more followers, simplification of setup and upgrade is key.
- user name and password for remote access to ARGUS TV needs to be defined
Manually configure core services settings
Defining core services account

Nothing of this should be necessary when "upgrading".
The worst thing that could happen is that u delete the Argus db during the process I guess.

Actually, ALL of the things he mentioned need to be set up, no matter whether you're installing fresh or upgrading. The Argus installer doesn't 'remember' any settings at all.tompa wrote:Hi!RogerS wrote:

I agree with the OP, while it's not much of a hassle to redo all the installer settings, it'd be nice if there was a 'proper' upgrade path and you didn't have to.
It's more of a feature request than anything else though.
