Hi,
please, could anyone put here a complete migration manual (MSSQL Express) to a new PC without touching any settings?
I'd like to migrate to a completely new Windows installation and I'd like to migrate all TV databases, tunings, recordings etc.
Is any simple way for this?
thx
m

Re: Complete migration to a new PC
Hi
I had no problems restoring the old SQL ARGUS-TV Database / ArgusTV.Recorder.db on a new system. I was able to transfer the whole ARGUS state from the old to the new system.

- Stop all ARGUS-xx services
- Backup your Argus Database (http://www.serverintellect.com/support/ ... kup-ssmse/)
- Backup the ArgusTV.Recorder.db file
- Install your TV Tuner Cards
- Install ARGUS-TV
- Stop all ARGUS-xx services
- Overwrite ArgusTV.Recorder.db File
- Restore the SQL Argus Database
- Start all ARGUS-xx services again
- Check your Tuner Settings in ARGUS TV Recorder

unfortunately I wasn't successful: a little different mssql and switch from W7 to W8.1
so beware, it does necessary not work like this, be prepared for a failure

I have tried this now several times and it does not work. When I do all the steps afterwards I get the message "Minimum one error occured" and when I look at the tv cards there are now 4 instead of 2 and no channels are available.

Did you try exporting your DBs with the SQL Workbench and importing it again?
I did so - but I also had no differences in hardware setups... and I was using MySQL

You should also be able to use the commandline tool "sqlcmd" to backup and restore a database.
See this link for fairly good how-to.

You can fix it, or you can fix it until it's broken. I usually choose the latter.
