Hi,
I have never messed around with this setting before and I think it is causing problems as a result.
I am timeshifting to a 4GB RamDisk and I noticed, the other day, that when two people on my network were watching Live TV at the same time, one of the clients kept stopping the Live stream after a period but was fine again if restarted.
How do you determine the optimum setting for any particular server?
Timeshift buffer settings
Re: Timeshift buffer settings
One of the streams is stopping when the ramdisk fills up. Bear in mind that the timeshift settings are per-stream, not total.
So if you expect a max of two streams, you should configure a maximum of 2GB timeshift on your 4GB ramdisk (something like 4*500MB would probably do).
Similarly if you might have three streams you need to adjust downwards again - obviously the net effect is you get less live-rewind capability the further you go.
