What is the need of "UNC share" if Argus on dedicated server

Post by nonobio » Mon Apr 18, 2016 11:42 am

Hi,
If ARGUS TV Recorder has been installed on a dedicated server with local drives, the file path(s) can be configured as local drives after which Argus will check the appropriate shares and indicate green if the UNC share is acceptable or red if they are unacceptable. The above method will set the global default share settings.

I use Argus TV as backend server for Kodi on my Windows PC since several years. I record and view live TV on the PC where is installed Argus, but also on otehrs devices on my LAN.

I don't understand why UNC shared is required ?

It's for the network clients to directly access the .TS files.

Hi,

Ok, but when i play TS file from Kodi clients, i use "SMB" source, so it should work (Argus record on its local drive and Kodi access it thought SMB source) ?

I don't use the "TV live" section on Kodi to watch records, maybe it is this section which need Argus UNC share ?
