ArgusTV crash (in Windows logs) only when starting live TV

Post by marcelmah » Wed May 14, 2014 10:03 pm

Hi,

I have a big problem since this weekend (running this setup happily for over a year (update from time to time ofcourse) I already posted in the beta forums (viewtopic.php?f=68&t=4945&start=30#p32592) but it has nothing to do with the beta as it started when I had 2.2.2, so I was asked to post here.

I was cleaning my server / main media center of some unncessacacy software (Kerio Control and VMware workstation, ran Windows update and updated Java etc.) and after that I noticed this problem. I tried 'everything' (reboot at first, sfc /scannow, reinstall 2.2.2) and finally I installed 2.3 beta 4 (with updated dll's). Nothing helped... :-(

The weird thing is that the problem only occurs when I start a live stream (from XBMC 12.2 (now 13.0, both Margro builds) and from the scheduler console). My recordings still record!

These are the error's I get:

Recorder.log

This is very annoying as all TV's in house work through this server so I have my wife and daughter breathing down my neck.

Any thoughts?

PS. System setup is in my signature.

Running any antivirus or anything like that?
You can fix it, or you can fix it until it's broken. I usually choose the latter.

Server: WHS 2011. Hauppauge HVR 2200. Avermedia A835. ArgusTV Server. EPG Collector.
Clients: Win7 64bit. MediaPortal. ArgusTV Client. StreamedMP.

Yes, Avira (for some time now).

I just tested with the scanner disabled and it still does not work.

Hi

You never had any issue with normal recordings, only live TV?
Did this happen to you with all of your four cards? Try any of them, please.
If this doesn't help, I would try the following three steps:
1. Re-install Digital devices-driver
2. Re-install VLC (I had an issue there two years back, and there was simply a damaged install of VLC)
3. Re-install Argus (same version)

Could be a bad clean-up of one of your deinstalled software packages, eg a hook that wasn't "bent back".
One of your deinstalled packages had sth to do with graphics?

Recordings still work just live TV that stopped working. I already tried disabling all except one (and changed that one), but same error.
Just updates to the latest driver
VLC? You mean VideoLan??? I don't have that installed...
Argus just updates to BETA 5

I did update my NVIDIA drivers. I uninstalled them and checked if it would start WITHOUT them being installed, no luck either.

Still no go :-(

Hi again.
Sorry to hear this.
Yes, I was talking about VideoLAN.
Another thing, that you could try: download and install the (regular) Gotham 13.1 beta1. Not Margro. The main dev branch fully supports Argus TV Live streaming in the meantime. Maybe there´s sth different in Margro´s builds. Didn´t even know that they´re still existing - I was only using them until Argus PVR became official part of XBMC Frodo builds...

The reason I use Margo builds is that they switch channels WAY faster. The problem is not in XBMC as I can't even start a stream locally from the scheduler console.

But then you must have VLC installed to do this? *puzzled*

I would try it nevertheless... (official Gotham 13.1)

Any video codecs that you installed? If so, prefer "the safe way": uninstall them and then install them from the scratch.
If nothing helps, I would even try the repair kit of Windows update: KB947821
Although this is not related to Video issues, ... who knows?

At the end - all this is better than a complete new setting up the whole system, er?

Well I actually made a full backup yesterday and started from scratch (Windows 8.1 x64 this time), just restored settings etc.
Just finished with the basic setup and I GET THE SAME ERROR!!! FFS

Now I'm really puzzled... only thing I can think of is start all over (Argus TV part) and hope it will work then...
