Windows MediaCenter Client for ArgusTv
Re: Windows MediaCenter Client for ArgusTv
Hi Kay,
Appreciate the work, it is just a shame that not many people seem to share my view on this. I've got multiple PC's around the house so can easily test a client plugin should you wish to continue on with it.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Windows MediaCenter Client for ArgusTv
no panic, ignore the "no" votes
the only interesting for me are the "yes" votes
and my limit is ca 50 yes votes to let the client not die
i have linked this thread to some points tgb.tv and to my project site let us hope that there will more yes votes come

Hi Kay & Benoire
at the time of writing I see 41% yes - that's astonishing high, if you consider the strong competition through MediaPortal and XBMC.
Even though I personally discontinued using WMC and also MP, for my children and wife I still miss the simple usage (and setup) of WMC.
And more, considering that we're kind of "friends to Argus", it would be great having the plugin for WMC.
Another question, Kay: if you decide to continue, could you also care for the Wiki article concerning this? Needs not be you personally to enter or upcate or create the new page, we'd be glad to assist as "typewriter".
Current (outdated) page: http://www.argus-tv.com/wiki/index.php? ... _TV_Client
Kind regards from Switzerland - Christoph

Hi Christoph ,
the wiki article (that i had created some month ago ( old nick anteaeus) ,isnt old and the client not died only andrew see this client as dead why ever
you are right with 41% at time is a high result but in relation not more
the most here use other frondends ( xbmc mp or something else )this votes with no ,is ok can they understand
that is the reason why i have a 50 yes votes limit
Re: Windows MediaCenter Client for ArgusTv
Hello,
I'm also a WMC fan. However, I took another approach than Kay. I wanted to reuse the native possibilities from WMC (why reinvent the wheel), so the only option was to create a tuner that WMC detects correctly. Since device driver development was a bit too difficult (I'm not a C++ developer, so I was getting a lot of BSODs), I tried the UPnp PBDA path, so this is a 100% C# software solution (no drivers involved), based on the PBDA IP Simulator from Microsoft.
For now the tuner only streams .ts files from my hard disk, but it will be fairly easy to use the tsbuffer files Argus creates. However, it still needs lots and lots of testing to be able to use this on your HTPC.
Things still to come :
- responding to wake up and standby
- getting the program number and service id out of the transport stream if you want Teletext to function
- figure out why UPnp registration fails if you have more than 1 network card in your PC
- getting the EPG data out of Argus and stream it in-band to WMC
- testing with MPEG4 and H.264 streams
Things which function already :
Detecting and choosing the tuners (multiple tuners possible) Getting the channels you want (from a config file) Using the guide data from Microsoft Watching live TV (with Teletext subtitle support)

Hi FredVDB
that is fantastic ,
but
- mce recorded not argus
- you has only one Tv Engine not 2 (mce as local and argus for network )
- you can only the simulated tv cards install
- you lose the sorting methods for recordings schedules channels
this is the reason why i use a other way

Re: Windows MediaCenter Client for ArgusTv
That seems really cool!
I'm more than happy to test for either of you guys as my gaming pc is on W7 with WMC installed and I'm very excited by the potential of these two pieces of work!
