This is a very real threat, your data is at risk!
This is something I don't know a lot about yet, but for those using a Synology NAS, there is a new version of Cryptolocker specifically targeting them. This exploits a security flaw in the NAS you don't have to do anything to be infected!.
I know of one person already who has been affected.
Basically, if you have a Synology NAS,
- If your NAS is not infected, turn off all remote access options immediately! then backup all data on it.
- If your NAS IS infected turn it OFF, unplug it, and wait.
- Do some serious research into the virus.
The only saving grace at this point appears to be the fact that these NASes are slow, so the encryption takes a long time.

You can fix it, or you can fix it until it's broken. I usually choose the latter.

Re: Synolocker - Cryptolocker for NASes
Reportage say only DSM 4 is affected, so upgrade to latest version if possible
