Hi guys,
I'm thinking about opening the connection for my Argus Web Access over the internet.
Can you recommend it? Is this a save access?
I tried to find out how to activate https access. I looked into the inis and found some entries about https activation / port but when I set it up it doesn't change anything.
I only get access over http://abc:42080 ...
I think this is now encrypted access. Right?
Thx for your help.
HTTPS - Encrypted access
Re: HTTPS - Encrypted access
I can't validate the safeness, but I can hopefully get you going with https. I'm not sure if this is actually covered officially somewhere, but I think I just got mine going on my own. I'm not fully sure what the default looks like, since mine is modified, but I think it goes like this:
If you want HTTPS/SSL only, just select the entry in the "HTTP Listen Addresses" and then click remove, then save the config.
Hope this actually helps.
- Unless you know what you are doing, do not stray from the path, anything and everything in this program can make the web site stop working.
- Open up UltiDev Web App Explorer and click on the ArgusTV.WebAccess thing on the left side.
- Click on the "Network Addresses" tab, if needed. You'll probably have something listed in the "HTTP Listen Addresses" section and nothing in the "HTPS/SSL Listen Addresses" section.
- Click add next to the "HTPS/SSL Listen Addresses" section.
- A new window will pop up, in the bottom section highlight the ArgusTV certificate thing and click next
- Another new window will pop up, put in what port number you want and click ok.
- Click "Save config changes"
- Test it out in the browser by using https://blah:port I've noticed that the first time you visit it in a new way, it does take a while to load, so if takes a while, now is a good time to get a slice of pie or something.

Yeah great. Thanks for your help.
I'll give it a try and write my feedback afterwards.

Re: HTTPS - Encrypted access
Works perfect! Thanks!
I now have both http for local-access and https for mobile-on-the-road-access. I changed the https port to 42090.
