Reasons for and against moving from MP to Kodi?

Post by fishsticks » Sat Mar 18, 2017 3:22 pm

I have been using MP for years as the frontend to Argus. I don't use it for anything else like apps and it is an offline machine so no streaming, only to watch Argus recordings and occasionally to check and schedule EPG (I do most of this directly in Argus).

Should I consider Kodi or continue with MP?

If you don't use the library functions (TV Shows, Movies) or want to switch your backend to e.g. DVBViewer Pro then there is absolutely zero reason to change.

I used MediaPortal for as long as I can remember and even in 2012 or so the LiveTV integration was far superior. Kodi is catching up, but MP + ArgusTV still was the best ever LiveTV Experience I ever had.

Especially loved that feature that allowed me to see if a tuner is available etc.
