FireDTV with Ziggo, some channels not working

Post by pwigle » Tue May 06, 2014 10:55 pm

Hi there,

My provider (ziggo, 5555) probably changed some frequencies. I've updated the cables.xml (I'm pretty sure it's correct) and now getting this when selecting a few channels:

</cable>
The cable is 20cm's from wall outlet to PC. From there goes a 5 meter cable to an official signal decrypter (connected to a different TV) which can receive all channels....

What am I doing wrong? How can I troubleshoot this?
Thanks in advance.

How do you know if these frequenties are correct?
I also have a setup using Ziggo dvb-c but last month they really messed up the frequencies.

I found them on a website that claims they are current (and other users confirmed). Do you have a different - working - xml file? If so, are you willing to share it?

Ok, found the root cause:

Ziggo has blocked signal to "non ziggo approved CI" modules. I'm using a FireDTV with Alphacrypt...

Sure willing to share but I'm in region 7900, in which region are you? Which site have you received info from? From what I read at tweakers.net is that the frequencies vary within regio's which makes sharing list with xml's difficult

My setup is with card sharing as described bentheimers zepman guide also found on tweakers.net

Ok, thanks. Due to the different region that won't work. Just orded one of those USB card readers to change my existing setup to the one you are using. Thanks for the tips.

But what does changing to card sharing change the frequency issues you have?
I also had frequency issues and with some guessing made it work. But guessing is not the best way to always do this ;)

as far as I understood, Ziggo blocked alphacrypt cams. I'm not sure if they can block softcams, worth try.

Hi pwigle

I also use 6 cards of FireDTV & FloppyDTV. Had similar issues for a long time.
Please look at this post --> viewtopic.php?p=33026#p33026
Maybe the setting for scan interval might ameliorate your issues. Also the "decrypt signal" setting might be of interest. Both solved it for me - but not completely. When scanning, I always always run several times...
On one server, I finally moved to the MediaPortal TV-Service because I couldn't solve it completely...

But, of course, it could have sth. to do with the Ziggo decrypt mode.
Btw: could you publish your new Ziggo freq's in this forum? --> viewtopic.php?f=63&t=3924
