What is Required for a Recorder Source for ArgusTv
Re: What is Required for a Recorder Source for ArgusTv
Hi Kay,
great news,
i would really appreciate getting rid of all the single DVB-S Tuners
and shift to a SAT>IP solution.
@dot-i: any chance that this is finding it's way into the Argus recorder soon?
Kay seems to have done the groundwork already
To my knowledge there is no other recording service available for MP/XBMC that supports SAT>IP yet.
So this could be a killer feature for Argus
Considering the price of ~160€ for the Digibit R1 with 4 tuners this is by far the least expensive way for a multiseat installation.
bye, steelrat

I'd love to support the effort of building this into a full-fledged recorder for ARGUS TV.steelrat wrote:@dot-i: any chance that this is finding it's way into the Argus recorder soon?

I'd suggest to work of the basis of the current TV Server recorder (remove all MP code and use the other code as skeleton).
Does Kay want to take lead on this effort?

@Dot-I i will help if i can
Re: What is Required for a Recorder Source for ArgusTv
Great, but it would be helpful if someone can actually take the lead on this. So I can adjust where needed but concentrate on the core of ARGUS TV.
I assume you feel someone else would be better suited to work on the skeleton etc...?

Re: What is Required for a Recorder Source for ArgusTv
I don't really know if I find the time to get involved but I did some base work which may help Kay on his next steps. The sample code is NOT based on the GIT stuff but a very simplistic approach to get a start off point. Although I use my VCR.NET and DVB.NET this has nothing to do with the general idea of the sample - VCR.NET is only used to import its DVB EPG data to ArgusTV (which by the way is fairly slow using SQL Express: around 10 seconds for 1.000 entries) and from DVB.NET I use the infrastructure to detect which channels share a common transponder. The sample itself does nothing at all but seems to at least follow the ArgusTV protocol - planning, start, modify, abort.dot-i wrote:I'd love to support the effort of building this into a full-fledged recorder for ARGUS TV.
dot-i: if you find some spare time it may be helpful to get some comment if this approch can work or if it would be better to use the Framework you provide on GIT. Actually concerning me (don't known what Kay's plans are) there is no need to hurry since I don't think I can get back to it before the next weekend - if at all.
Thanks in advance
Jochen

I had a really quick look, but this looks nice and clean. All that is indeed required is for you to implement the service API, and you've indeed started to do that perfectly fine. A fresh start is just as good (and perhaps better) than using the code directly from GitHub and removing the TV Server specific code.
Re: What is Required for a Recorder Source for ArgusTv
I decided to put some more work in the infrastructure to make it at least useful for a startup:
http://downloads.psimarron.net/ArgusTV/ ... eview).msi.
In addition I wrote a small introduction - in German since I think that mostly Kay will be interested in this stuff:
http://downloads.psimarron.net/ArgusTV/Backgrounder.pdf.
Have Fun
