Most of the series I record have valid series and episode details and I want them to appear in the filename for use by Plex. Others do not have series and episode data, yet Argus still treats them as a series and I can't avoid getting wrong details in the filename.
My suggestion: Have a VARIABLE that includes series and episode in a standard format (such as S01E01 or 1x01) only if they exist in the metadata for the programme.
To get series and episodes coming through, I use variable %%SERIES%%x%%EPISODENUMBER%%. This works great for series with the right details. But for series without them, this gives me #x# which confuses Plex and makes it think all episode recordings are copies of a single episode. I'd like to skip that entire series/episode variable(s) if there aren't valid details. Alternatively, a way to have them treated as a one-time recording would be equally effective.
Recording File Name: avoid series/episode if missing
Re: Recording File Name: avoid series/episode if missing
Why don't you create a post script that checks for valid information? And if it's not valid than replaces with other values?
Re: Recording File Name: avoid series/episode if missing
I've wondered about that (as it's easily detected), but don't know where to start. Why don't you create a post script that checks for valid information?
I assume I'd want:
After each recording has completed,
Remove any " 1x1" from the filename.
Any tips on how to create something like this?

You could create a .cmd file with some command described here:
http://ss64.com/nt/syntax-replace.html
Parse the values passed through to the batch-file and than rename the file.
Also of course update the argus database with the rename command described here:
