Important note for IIS installations on Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8

The installer will have to create the ARGUS TV virtual directory in IIS. To successfully run this install on Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, the IIS 7 settings must be verified, and set as shown below:

To enable this setting, do the following:

  • Open "Control Panel" and ensure "Control Panel Home" is the current view.
  • Click the "Uninstall a program" link from the Programs menu item.
  • Select "Turn Windows features on or off" from the Tasks menu.
  • Expand the "Internet Information Services" node, followed by the "Web Management Tools" node.
  • Make sure that the appropriate checkboxes are checked:

Connecting

After the installation, open your web browser, and navigate to the following url: (when browsing from a different machine replace ‘localhost’ with the name of the server where you installed ARGUS TV):

http://localhost:42080 (in case of a Cassini installation – the default)

http://localhost/ArgusTV.WebAccess (in case you installed on an existing IIS)

You will be prompted to log in. Enter the credentials you entered in the setup web-access credentials screen, and click “Log on”.

You will be taken to the Status page and now be able to browse the TV Guide and use the other functionalities.

The top menu gives you access to

  1. Status
  2. EPG
  3. Search Guide
  4. Recorded Programs
  5. Upcoming Programs
  6. Schedules
  7. (Flag Icon) Allows selection of different languages
  8. (i) About the guys that brought you this software
  9. Logout

Status

You will be greeted wth one of two layouts

Clicking on the Icon top right will give a drop down of the normal menus.

The Status page shows :

  1. System : the remaining disk capacity
  2. Active Recordings : Any current recording activity, which could be multiple programs. This output can be sorted by the various columns
  3. Next Upcoming Recoding : The next recoding due to take place

Changing Your Password

To change the username and password used to login to ARGUS TV Web Access, you need to carefully edit the file "web.config", located in Program Files (x86)\ARGUS TV\Web Access. You usually can't edit this file and save it to it's location, so follow these steps to edit it.

  1. Copy the file to another location.
  2. Edit the file with notepad.
  3. Copy the edited file back to the original folder.

The Username and password are located towards the bottom of the file. You are looking for these lines, you should recognize them as they will contain your current username and password.
